The Global Center for Executive Leadership Fellowship
The GCFEL Fellowship
About the Fellowship: The CGFEL Fellowship is intended to support scholar-practitioners whose research and practice successfully address global challenges.

New nominating committees are arranged annually and comprised of previous fellows and a pool of invited external nominators chosen from various fields. Nominating committees are encouraged to draw on their expertise, networks, and new advancements in their practice and scholarship to nominate the most impactful scholar-practitioners working within their field and beyond.

Nomination Criteria:

- Nominating committee members may not nominate people they know personally, share an alma mater with, or have worked with directly in any capacity.
- The scholarship and practice of nominees must directly impact the quality of life experienced by members of systemically under-resourced communities.
- Nominees should be considered of good moral and ethical character, with a demonstrated ability to organize efforts for the common good with cross-cultural competence.
- Records of practice must evidence a nominee's ability to guide organizations toward sustained improvement, accomplish their work outside of home settings, and operate as models of humanitarianism in international settings.
- The body of work belonging to nominees must evidence reasonable promise toward the advancement and progress of public and social health.
- The scholarship of nominees should evidence an exceptional and critical knowledge of their field while offering bold solutions that address long-standing challenges to human welfare and the establishment of equity.

Nominations are evaluated by an independent selection committee composed of international leaders in the arts, sciences, and humanities professions or individuals who have a history of service as scholar-practitioners that have progressed public health outcomes beyond what would have been otherwise accomplished. Each nomination is evaluated for alignment with the program's selection criteria based on the nomination letter, the nominee's body of work, and assessments from other experts.

After a multi-step review, the selection committee recommends 100 candidates to the voting body. The voting body is made up of all those who previously served on nomination committees. The voting body participates in a shared voting process to select 48 of the 100 candidates to move forward.

Previous fellows then contact the 48 candidates selected for advancement to inform them they are being considered for the fellowship and make arrangements to conduct individual interviews. Nominees receiving the top 24 evaluations are then invited to speak about the work they would undertake if awarded the fellowship, circumstances that may prevent the continuation of their research and practice, and anticipated challenges for their proposed undertaking.

The selection committee and voting body receive reports on the remaining 24 candidates and determine by vote the 12 awardees.
